A Puppy Introduction lasts 1 hour. This gives your pup plenty of time to settle in, and experience grooming at their own comfortable pace without feeling rushed.

What is actually included in the session?

Depending on your puppy's comfort level, I focus on gentle exposure. The session typically includes:

• Introduction to salon sights, sounds, and professional tools (brushes, combs, clippers)

• Gentle handling around sensitive areas (paws, ears, face, tail)

• A light, stress-free bath and gentle blow-dry, and full brush out.

• A basic nail check or trim and light foot/sanitary tidy (if the pup is relaxed)

• Practice standing safely on the grooming table.

Why I recommend a Puppy Introduction instead of a full groom?

Gradual introduction prevents puppies from feeling overwhelmed. Building positive associations with the salon, handling, table, and dryer first to help your dog grow into a confident, relaxed adult on the grooming table.

Could my puppy benefit from more than one Puppy Introduction?

Yes! While confident puppies might progress quickly, nervous or high-energy pups often benefit from multiple introduction sessions before their first full groom.

How often should I bring my puppy back after their first visit?

I recommend rebooking 3 to 4 weeks after their initial intro. Confident puppies may be ready for a full groom on their second or third visit, while nervous pups may benefit from an extra intro session. Regular visits build a routine and prevent coat matting as they grow.

What should I do right before dropping off my puppy?

Let your pup run around in your yard right before leaving to go to the toilet and burn off excess energy. Since your puppy may not be fully street-vaccinated yet, avoid walking them on public streets, grass verges, or parking areas. Carry them directly from your car into the salon.

• Maintain a short handling and brushing routine to normalise care.

What type of brush should I use?

Use a small slicker brush to work through the fur, followed by a metal comb to check for hidden tangles. Always brush gently, especially around sensitive areas like the ears, legs, face, belly and tail.

Should I get my puppy used to a hairdryer at home?

Yes. Introduce your home hairdryer from a distance on a low, warm airflow setting. Keep sessions very short and praise calm behavior. Never force exposure if your puppy shows fear.
